Jake Owen Shares Live Cover Of Waylon Jennings' 'Never Could Toe The Mark'

Friday (August 23), Jake Owen released his live cover of Waylon Jennings' "Never Could Toe The Mark."

The "Down To The Honkytonk" singer dropped the track following his announcement of his Sounds From Soundcheck series. The news came Thursday (August 22) when Owen shared that he plans to start releasing songs that he's recorded live at soundcheck over the years. "Thanks to y'alls overwhelming response to my post yesterday, I'll be releasing songs I've been recording at soundcheck over the past few years," he wrote in an Instagram caption.

He continued on writing, "I love classic country music so much and feel I don't always get to show you that side of me," Owen says. "Over the next few weeks, I'll be serving up some of my favorites to y'all. It's out job as country music artists to educate and remind folks that we wouldn't be here today with out the trailblazers and characters that paved the way for us in Country music."

Wrapping up the caption Owen shared, "My first little ditty is from one of my favorite artists of all time. The man. Hoss. Waylon Jennings. OUT TOMORROW!!"

Owen's most recent album, Greetings from...Jake was released back in March 2019. "Homemade" is his latest single off the album following the platinum-selling No. 1 single, "I Was Jack" and "Down To The Honkytonk." This summer leading into fall, you can catch Owen out on the road at a variety of music festivals. See exactly where he's headed right here on his website.
