BOY LOST HIS FATHER, GAINED A HUGE FAMILY

Kevin Will Jr. of Houston started kindergarten on Monday and was brought to school by his very large extended family in uniform.

The five-year-old boy's father, Officer Kevin Will, was killed in the line of duty by a drunk driver three months before his son was born. Since the day Kevin Jr. was born, his father's fellow officers promised to look after him, so on the first day of kindergarten, they escorted him to school.

100 police officers, 13 of which were on horseback, accompanied Kevin on the mile-long walk down the street as a police department helicopter hovered above.

Kevin's mother, Alisha Will, said, "I think he was way overwhelmed today. But he was excited about kindergarten, and I talked to him about the officers being here because his daddy couldn't." (Today)
