In North Carolina, nine nursing homes are organizing a fancy pageant that will give residents a night in the spotlight.
Contestants will compete in the Mr. and Ms. Quality Life Pageant by showing off their talent. Some will sing. Others will tell stories. And still others will show off projects they’ve completed.
The event has grown so big that it has become a focal point for the residents and contestants. With great anticipation they rehearse in the weeks leading up to the pageant – and then dress up in formal gowns and tuxedos for the big night.
Professional judges will choose the winners, who get crowns and reign for a year, during which time they get to go to special events.
But even for those who don’t win, it’s all exciting because the pageant shines a light on what makes the residents special. (New Castle News)
