Kenny Rogers dropped the mic and walked off stage for the final time last night (Wednesday) in Nashville as The Gambler wrapped up a career than has spanned more than 60 years.
At his farewell concert, Kenny was joined by Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Chris Stapleton, Reba McEntire, The Oak Ridge Boys, Lady Antebellum, The Judds, Little Big Town, Billy Currington, Justin Moore, Lionel Richie, The Flaming Lips and others. Dolly serenaded Kenny with "I Will Always Love You" and said, "I know I’m artificial, but I like to think my heart is real. I have a spot (in my heart) for you that’s never ever going to be touched by anybody else."
The duo ended the show with one final performance of "Islands in the Stream" and said they were going to "go out like rock stars," at which point they held their microphones out in front of them, dropped them on stage and walked off together. (Billboard)
