Chase Stokes proved he knew every word to his girlfriend’s song as he hilariously danced along to Kelsea Ballerini’s performance of “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)” at the 2023 CMT Music Awards on Sunday evening (April 2).
The Outer Banks star accompanied Ballerini to the highly-anticipated awards show, hosted for the first time at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Ballerini co-hosted the show with Kane Brown and took the stage to perform one of the biggest songs from her latest full-length album, Subject To Change. Bright colors popped on stage via Ballerini’s set pieces and wardrobe as she teamed up with queens of RuPaul's Drag Race (Kennedy Davenport, Olivia Lux, Jan Sport and Manila Luzon). The vibrant performance comes shortly after Ballerini premiered a music video that she knew “needed to be fun... and funny” (and largely inspired by the iconic line, ‘Hypothetically, if you ever kill your husband, Hand on the Bible, I’d be lying through my teeth…’).
Ballerini confirmed earlier this year that she and Stokes began talking in early December. The pair first sparked dating rumors when they were photographed at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, where they attended the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 9. The “HEARTFIRST” artist confirmed in a podcast interview in February that she’s not single. She met Stokes after she “slid into his DMs,” simply saying, “hi, Chase Stokes,” a reference to his Instagram handle. Now, they’re just “having fun,” she confirmed in the interview.
