RaeLynn revealed a lyric that “everyone” has been singing wrong for years.
The country singer-songwriter said her “drama breakup song I wrote at 17 is trending” after more than a decade. RaeLynn, who competed on Blake Shelton’s team on the second season of The Voice in 2012, debuted “Boyfriend” for the first time in 2012. She said on Tuesday (February 18) that it's been 13 years since she released the single, and hinted that she might recreate the single artwork.
RaeLynn, now 30, shared a clip of the ballad on Instagram and pointed out the one word “everyone” seemed to get wrong. “It’s (13) years later and a drama breakup song I wrote at 17 is trending and everyone thinks I said LoveBug and not Lubbock,” she said with a laugh. She wanted to know in her caption, “should we change it to LOVEBUG?”
commenters included fellow singer-songwriter Kelsey Hart, who said he’s “always loved this one and won’t be told it’s not Lovebug 😂😂” Everly Fair artist Lauryn Evans admitted she “always thought it was ‘on our way to a love book’ hahaha.” Musician Jer Gregg said he “always thought it was LoveBug too.” Some commenters said they can hear both words when they listen to the song now. Listen to the clip below to see whether you hear “Lubbock” or “Lovebug.”
