Eddie was on a dinner outing with his family when he found something in his drink.
Shortly after being seated at the restaurant, the server brought a pitcher of water to the table and began filling everyone’s glasses. As Eddie prepared to take a drink, he noticed something dark floating in his glass and realized it was a dead fly. Although initially grossed out, Eddie admitted his first instinct was to simply remove the fly and continue drinking the water. He said if the same thing had happened at home, he probably would not have thought much of it. However, he ultimately decided to notify the server. According to Eddie, the waitress immediately apologized and offered to replace the water, but the situation ended there. Eddie accepted the new glass and did not push for anything further. Amy pointed out that if the fly had been inside the water pitcher, the rest of Eddie’s family likely drank from the same contaminated water. Eddie admitted he had not thought about that during the meal.
Bobby said he would have politely asked for a fresh pitcher of water for the entire table. He added that some restaurants might offer a complimentary appetizer in response, though he did not believe the incident justified a completely free meal. Lunchbox, however, argued that he would have escalated the situation and spoken directly to the manager. Lunchbox thought compensation was needed and thought Eddie's family should have gotten a free meal. Since there wasn't a free meal given, Lunchbox would have wrote a negative online review.
Despite the debate over whether the restaurant should have offered additional compensation, Eddie admitted that he never wanted to create a major issue and was mostly surprised by how casually he almost handled the situation before deciding to speak up.
